Print is Better

Visit Laugh at Yourself First for “Parade Day,” and more short stories, scripts, and very little poetry by Paul Juser.
pauljuser.blogspot.com

If you’re here with me in Binghamton, you know the annual Wine and Food Fest at Roberson Museum & Science Center is the best party in town. The museum fills it’s halls, galleries, and even the courtyard with wineries, beereries, and the best fooderies from around New York State for what Roberson head, Terry McDonald calls “A rite of Spring.” When myself and several other bizarre punk rockers were looking to perform our strange plays full of violence and swearing, Terry said, “Use my museum!” Then she let us do it again and again. I had a blast at the Wine and Food Fest last night, and I welcome the new holiday. You don’t have to be here with me in Binghamton to support our heritage. Look them up at roberson.org.

The sun is out, and I’m itching to go take some pictures, so I’ll keep this thing short. This week, I give you “Parade Day,” with Dr. Filth protecting Metro City from a wave of destruction. 607 Magazine also posted my first restaurant review. Read "Eating Out Upstate" to see where to eat and where to avoid when you find yourself off the highway. Next week, I’ll have a new “Regular Crazy.” I’m picking stories to be included in a collection this summer, titled “Nuge for Prez and Other Fiction.” Included will be most of the Laugh stories, several scripts I did with Theatricks by Starlight, and the blog I wrote on the campaign last year called Ted Nugent for President.

Each will be revised, edited, and cleaned up once more. Is this a marketing ploy to make you buy stories you’ve previously read? Of course it is! Nuge for Prez will be available in free download if you can’t swing the cost. I’m not paying for anything I don’t have to either. This economy sucks. If you enjoy Laugh, hit me up when you’re able. Nuge for Prez and the first issue of “Print is Better” will be available in color and B&W editions at lulu.com. Until then, check out Dollars Per Hour Thanks for reading.

Laugh at Yourself First: "From the Road..."

Visit Laugh at Yourself First for "From the Road...," and more short prose, script, and very little poetry by Paul Juser
http://pauljuser.blogspot.com

I have never told a joke in my life, and I don’t plan to start today. My city is out of the news as fast as we came in, and all around me the healing process is churning right along. I’ve spent a lot of time in motion, which has kept my pen at work on “Eating Out Upstate,” the series of restaurant reviews I’m writing for 607 Magazine. Stick with me, I know the best places to eat in this state. Keeping with a travel theme, this week I give you a collection of poems titled “From the Road...” If you’re overlooking N’yarleans, Sanfran, or the Walmart in Ithaca, these poems are for you. Next week, the Superhero Gang assigns Dr. Filth to keep the peace on “Parade Day.”

If you’re here with me in Binghamton, you know we have a new bookstore. There has been nowhere to buy new or used books since the old man who’d throw out you and your mom for looking too long at one volume. River Read has a huge selection, with the Science books up front where I don't have to dig for them. This summer I hope to see events on the patio outside, overlooking the river. I’ll be swinging by there tonight for their poetry night, and if I get the courage, I might even read these poems.

I’m working on two print volumes for this summer: the first print volume of Print is Better, and a short story collection entitled, “Ted Nugent for President and Other Fiction.” Both will be available in full color or black and white through Lulu.com. Until then, you can download Dollars Per Hour for free. Feel free to print any of these stories or photos for yourself, as long as I get my credit. Help me out by ordering "DPH" in print. Thanks for reading. VOTE NUGE.

Laugh at Yourself First: "Dead but Dreaming"

Visit Laugh at Yourself First for “Dead but Dreaming,” and more short stories, scripts, and very little poetry from Paul Juser.
http://pauljuser.blogspot.com

If you’re here with me in Binghamton, it’s been a rough week. Most of the news vultures have crawled back in the holes, and the rest of you are waiting on the comprehensive book on Jiverly Voong. I won’t be the one to write it, I guarantee you that. I appreciate all the concern I received from around the world to make sure I’m okay.

Neither me, or anyone close to me were injured in the event, but I walk, bike, or drive past the ACA nearly every day. The building is across the river, barely out of sight from my office window. Each summer I enjoy pierogies in the same kitchen that shielded more than a dozen people from bullets. I spent last Friday listening to sirens and helicopters, watching my drunk mayor deified on CNN. Like everyone in my little city, I’m reassembling the little bit of normalcy we had before.

This week’s Laugh departs from the Sci-Fi and Fantasy themes I’ve been pursuing. While the title, “Dead but Dreaming” comes straight from H.P. Lovecraft, the only monsters you’ll read about here are addiction, affliction, and abuse. I read this story live a few years ago, but this version is heavily revised. Next week, I’m giving you poetry. I have two poems for next week, but they are short. Dr. Filth returns April 24th in “Parade Day.”

This week, I delivered my first two restaurant reviews to 607 Magazine. I spend a lot of time on the road, which leads me to eat in many strange places. “Eating Out Upstate” will let you know which are worth the atmosphere. Have I dined in your town? Visit www.607magazine.com to find out. I also had the pleasure of interviewing on the Original Geeks Podcast this week. I talked with Daddybones and Jiinx about Laugh at Yourself First, Dollars Per Hour, superheroes, comic books and wrestling. We also performed “The Greatest American Hero. Episode 42 should be available online at www.originalgeekspodcast.com sometime tomorrow. I’ve added more to the Print is Better blog. Thanks for reading.

Laugh at Yourself First: "Regular Crazy"

Visit Laugh at Yourself First for "Regular Crazy," and more short prose, script, and very little poetry from Paul Juser.
http://pauljuser.blogspot.com

April fools are welcome, but I practice my trade twelve months a year. This week, I present you “Regular Crazy,” a story told in photograph. Next week, I’m bringing the train a little closer to reality with “Dead But Dreaming,” a prose story about too much fun. I’m also hard at work on a series of restaurant reviews for 607 Magazine. The online magazine has reviews and interviews with artists and musicians around the area. I’m excited to be contributing. I have no qualifications but my enjoyment of food and strange adventures in weird places. Hilarity ensues.

If you’re here with me in Binghamton, you're getting ready for First Friday tonight in downtown. By April, the last gallery has changed its exhibit from what you saw in October. I'm keeping my fingers for the Sun to stay with us, because I’m looking forward to some human painting at Jungle Science.

“Dollars Per Hour” is still available in print and free download at Lulu.com. Talk to you next week, thanks for reading.
